Prof. Mark J. Goodman

Associate Director and Co-Investigator in the MCRI Project; formerly, Chair of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences. He is a member of the Executive Committee of York University's Centre for Refugee Studies (CRS) and has served on Executive, Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLAC). A specialist in sociological theory and research methods, his research includes work in political and historical sociology.

Professor Goodman is currently conducting research on slavery and cultural change among African-Americans, and an archival study of conservative politics and the retrenchment of the Civil Rights movement in the United States from the 1960s onwards. He teaches a comparative course on African communities in the Americas.
